About Us

Our mission is to improve ecosystem functioning within northern Minnesota using an ecosystem-wide approach, promoting restoration of degraded biomes to a more natural state. We work toward this goal by implementing habitat restoration initiatives using research-supported approaches, carrying out hands-on restoration efforts, and connecting with the broader UMD, Twin Ports, and ecological restoration communities to exchange knowledge and best practices. Our group organizes and takes part in professional development and service-learning activities related to restoration, such as project management, native plant installations, invasive species removal, research, and workshops. SER@UMD welcomes all members of the UMD community, including both undergraduate and graduate students. *In accordance with University of Minnesota Policy, all students are welcome to join and participate in this group's activities as members or supporters, regardless of identity*
