The Actuary Club was created to promote the actuary career. We aim to educate, prepare and aid students in exam preparation and aim to help students to become strong actuarial candidates by offering tools and support. We host talks and seminars at UMD by working actuaries who discuss their careers, many of which whom are UMD alumni. Our club attends local career fairs as well as the University of Minnesota Actuarial Career Fair in the Twin Cities each year to learn and network about actuarial career opportunities.

The Advocates for Reproductive Freedom at UMD (previously the Student Advocates for Choice) work to protect everyone's reproductive freedom through advocacy, educating our peers, volunteer work, and political action. Our group fights for equal access to abortion services, contraception, and pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care; scientifically-accurate medical information regarding reproductive health care; support for LGBTQ+ students, students of color, and students with disabilities; and the connection between campus and community advocacy. We are affiliated with Pro-Choice Minnesota.

Alpha Delta was founded on August 4, 2007, but by the end of the first stages, the fraternity would have 22 founders from three different all-male chapters of Alpha Phi Omega (University of Maine, Drexel University, Duquesne University). The fraternity also holds to the values prescribed by Alpha Phi Omega founder and first national president Frank Reed Horton upon the creation of Alpha Phi Omega and therefore claims him as spiritual founder. The second national president H. Roe Bartle is also claimed as a spiritual founder. Alpha Delta was founded to uphold a standard of manhood set by the founders that would withstand the test of time. They ensure that although Alpha Delta is not a service fraternity for logistical reasons, the sole purpose of Alpha Delta is to provide service to mankind in four areas: to the brotherhood, to the university, to the community, and to the nation.

Starting at the Alpha Phi Omega National Convention in 2006, on December 29, numerous all-male chapters of the fraternity gathered together, feeling alienated and isolated, to discuss the option of creating a new direction that would protect the truest intentions of founder Frank Reed Horton by continuing to spread his principles and standard of manhood. This new direction culminated in the formation of a new national fraternity due to an ideological split between the all-male chapters and the national fraternity. The new fraternity would continue to hold community service at the highest of its ideals, but also preserve their respective chapters rich all-male heritage.

The Nu Mu Chapter of Alpha Delta (formerly of Alpha Phi Omega) was started in 1961. Since then the chapter has had a strong program of service along with many various social events. The Nu Mu Alumni base is large and full of great men and leaders in their communities.

Alpha Nu Omega is a local social fraternity founded in 1959. Our basic founding principles are social betterment, academic achievement, community relations, friendship and brotherhood. To further our academic goals, Alpha Nu Omega is the only fraternity on campus to offer $10,000 in scholarships to members based on the principles of academic excellence, need, and community activity. We also have a blazer program that is sponsored by the Alpha Nu Omega Alumni Association which provides a custom-made blazer to each member. Due to our beliefs that the Greek life experience should be available for everyone, the first semester associating with Alpha Nu Omega is free of any dues.

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) is a Civil Engineering organization for students who are looking to increase their knowledge of steel construction through hands on learning. This organization is open to students of all academic levels and majors. We focus on designing and fabricating a 20 foot long bridge made out of steel for the Student Steel Bridge Competition. This competition takes place in the spring with colleges from all across the region. We will also hope to have opportunities for academic, social, and professional development, along with various opportunities for volunteering.

American Marketing Association at UMD's mission is to expose students to opportunities and experiences within marketing career field. Students also have the opportunity to build up their portfolio by participating in the National Student Advertising Competition organized through the American Advertising Federation and creating a professional marketing campaign for nationally recognized brands (such as Tinder, Adobe, and Whataburger). The club also provides members with networking possibilities with peers and career professionals. The Concrete Canoe Team competes in the American Society of Civil Engineers‚ (ASCE) symposium every year against other colleges across the country. The team uses the year to prepare and create the concrete mix design, create a new hull, and prepare for the presentation for the final competition. We meet every week in order to finish the canoe on time. No previous experience is needed! At the competition, the team also races the canoe to see how well it performs against the other teams. ADA is an inter-collegiate dance club with dancers from the University of Minnesota Duluth, Lake Superior College, and the College of Saint Scholastica. We accept dancers of any and all dance levels! Our officers coordinate with faculty and members to assign initiatives for each semester. We are now reading Interpreter of Maladies, by Jhumpa Lahiri! The book is nine short stories. Before our next meeting, on November 14th at 6 pm, I thought we'd start with the first one—A Temporary Matter. (If you are reading this and have not started or even have the book, still come and we'll catch you up!)

We meet every other Thursday from 6 pm to 7 pm in KAML 116 starting the 5th of September.

If you're wondering what the meetings are like, usually it's just us chatting and sharing our thoughts about what we are reading at the moment. We'll do the actual reading outside of the meetings. We have a huge variety of majors and are happy to have different perspectives. Every so often, we'll partner with KAML or other UMD clubs and organize some events and this is a fantastic way to get involved on campus and meet some of our wonderful library staff.

Our mission is to build a community where students garner the confidence to express themselves with ballroom dance. Bulldog Ballroom strives to provide opportunities for students to learn and develop their skills.

We teach ballroom dancing at a beginner level with no experience or partners required. The club learns seven main dances: Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, and Club Swing. We are engineers competing in the Formula SAE Collegiate Design Series to design, fabricate, test, and compete with a small formula style vehicle.

All majors and levels of knowledge are welcome to join. Students will learn to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world design problems and learn new skills along the way that may give them a boost in their classes. There are also multiple opportunities for networking with some of the top engineers from the automotive industry.

Bulldog Rocketry is a student organization at the University of Minnesota Duluth focused on the design, simulation, manufacturing, testing, and competition of high power rockets. Over the past few years, the team has grown from 5 to over 50 members due to the outstanding opportunities offered to the students.

Our organization is constantly striving to expand the expertise of the team and be as inclusive as possible. During the summer of 2018, the team placed second in the Space Port America Cup held by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association, an international high powered rocketry competition. The team traveled to the competition in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The following summer, in 2019, the team took second place with the rocket reaching a height of over 30,000 feet. In order to advance our team, we have done extensive research into materials and equipment to ensure future successes. The advanced equipment we are looking forward to designing and manufacturing will include voice feedback, low power tracking systems, thermal imagining systems for finding missing persons, and advanced carbon fiber manufacturing methods. All components of the rocket have been designed and developed by the student teams.

Another endeavor our team has taken on includes further development of our Hybrid rocket, capable of reaching altitudes up to 40,000 feet. The Hybrid rocket will use advanced materials and manufacturing methods, which will provide our students with excellent real-world experience in cutting edge fields of engineering. Other developments is providing business students opportunities in expanding the business side of Bulldog Rocketry. We are also expanding our computer science capabilities with website building and data management.

We are a community of tennis plays ranging in skill from beginner to advanced. Our main purpose is to give students a safe and fun environment to play tennis recreationally and competitively. We are a registered USTA Tennis on Campus organization. There is a $75 fee to play inside, if you are unsure feel free to give it a test try, by showing up to a couple practices before deciding.

The Chinese Language Learners’ Club (CLLC) is comprised of students who have or are currently studying the Chinese language, Chinese international students, as well as students interested in the Chinese language, history, and rich culture. Helping Hives will incorporate volunteer, scientific research, educational and social opportunities. These opportunities will include planting pollinator gardens, educating the public, beekeeping, harvesting honey and more. As our name suggests, our worship services are centered around the Lutheran denomination, but all our welcome to join our worship services, our weekly Koinonia sessions, and the events we host throughout the year. We hold worship services every week on Tuesday nights, and Koinonia on Thursday nights. Now, for those not fluent in Greek (which, let us be honest, you probably aren't), Koinonia is Greek for fellowship. Fellowship is something we aspire to provide through our worship services and our chats afterwards and through our Koinonia sessions, where we get together and get to know one another and discuss religion in a respectful and thoughtful manner. Retreats: What better way to know who we are and who we are meant to be than by knowing Him who made us! We provide multiple retreat opportunities to students every year. Retreats provide an opportunity for students to go away for a weekend and spend time in prayer and fellowship with other young Catholics. The Fly Fishing Club of UMD is a group of students that have a common interest in fly fishing. Whether members are experienced, novice, or have never touched a fly rod before, there is a place for you in our club! The North Shore and the South Shore of Lake Superior are world renowned for their migratory steelhead and salmon runs. Additionally, there are many other fisheries including the Cloquet River, Saint Louis River, and many area lakes that also offer tremendous fishing opportunities. The goal of our club is to bring people together, build a community, and have a common place to share stories and make memories. However, we also emphasize conservation and making a positive impact around Lake Superior and it's tributaries to ensure a sustainable resource for years to come!

Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) is an organization for leaders. Our newly formed group is part of a national affiliation of over 300 campus Circles, representing approximately 6,000 new inductees every year.
ODK consists of sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are in the top 33% of their class academically (typically a 3.4 GPA). Those who are eligible will be invited to apply in the spring of the year that they are eligible. All majors are accepted!
Leadership is defined by five different areas of campus: Academics, Athletics, Service, Communication, and Arts.

The Panhellenic Council (PHC) is comprised of four UMD sororities. The Panhellenic Council exists to develop and maintain sorority life and interfraternal relations. The organization promotes scholarship and leadership development while disseminates information important to sorority women to the chapters.

PHC is the coordinating body for Primary Sorority Recruitment Week. PHC is led by 8 student leaders who make up the Executive Board. Each executive position is a member of a sorority at UMD and represents the interests of the community at large. They are elected at the end of the fall semester and serve a one-year term. Additionally, each chapter has a designated woman, known as the Panhellenic Delegate, that attends meetings.

Phi Sigma Sigma is an international social sorority founded in 1913 at Hunter College.
Our founders wanted to perpetuate the advancement of womanhood by setting three core values that all chapters share: lifelong learning, leadership through service, and inclusiveness. They approached the Dean of Women at Hunter College in New York City with an idea of creating a sorority that would promote open membership to all women of character that were committed to sisterhood, excellence in scholarship, and selfless giving. Phi Sigma Sigma was the first nonsectarian sorority - not based upon one specific religion and to be open to a diverse membership. Today Phi Sigma Sigma proudly holds over 100 chapters in both the United States and Canada.
Iota Zeta is the name of our Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma. Once upon a time, there was a local sorority on campus, Zeta Omega Rho. Incidentally, a sister of the Zeta Nu chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma transferred to the University of Minnesota Duluth. She longed for her days as a Phi Sigma Sigma, and in 2001 decided to make a good faith effort in recreating her sorority experience by forming a new local sorority, Delta Omega Lambda. These two sororities were mutually interested in becoming attached to a larger, national governing body. In order to gain national sorority attention, the two local organizations united their efforts. In unity they became a colony of Phi Sigma Sigma, initiated January 31, 2004, to establish the Iota Zeta chapter.

Our goal is to create sustainable relationships with our environment and the world around us, starting with our local food system here in the Great Lakes region. We pursue projects at the UMD Land Lab farm that allow us to increase food security, sovereignty, and local organic produce in our area. We currently have several projects in progress including: mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, composting, edible forest gardening, biochar research, and much more! We also want to spread awareness about the UMD Land Lab and encourage other students and community members to visit the farm to learn more about sustainable farming techniques. The Rho Chi Honor Society is a National Honor Society for Pharmacy that encourages and recognizes excellence in intellectual achievement in all facets of pharmacy. To be eligible for admission into Rho Chi, PharmD students must first complete no less than 3 semesters of coursework and must rank in the top 20% of their class based on GPA. Graduate students pursuing a masters or PhD in the pharmaceutical sciences with a 3.5 GPA after one-half of their coursework are also eligible. We are an organization of students that all share a passion for the outdoors. We are one big group of friends that enjoy getting together and doing things outdoors such as trap shooting, hunting, ice fishing and cookouts. We host two trap shoots and two cookouts per semester and we go on an club ice fishing trip every winter in January. The ice fishing trip gives members a chance to make new friends and go on a fishing trip somewhere in Minnesota they might not have never been before. Season permitting we also try to do a smelting night on lake superior in the spring. Besides enjoying extra curricular activity in the outdoors together as often as possible, we also have a goal of making a difference in our community. We get together at least twice per semester to walk around local parks and pick up as much trash as we can find. We also find plenty of opportunities to volunteer for and support local charities such as the Courage for Kenny trap shoot that we volunteer at every fall. We also help out at the Island lake fishing tournament ran by the United Northern Sportsman's Club. All activities are optional and anyone is welcome to join our club for any reason at any time. We are all very welcoming and we hope to find more people that will become apart of what we do so people can continue to enjoy being in this club for years to come! The entire motivation behind this club is to learn all about the Bible. This matters because the Bible is the most popular printed text ever created, and its original manuscripts are among some of the oldest in world history. Different from other faith based/spiritual groups, we analyze hard truths of the Bible. Teaching will be the central focus of this group concerning biblical history, artifacts, misconceptions, characters, principles, rhetorical lessons, bible versions, and countless other examinations. Members and guests of the group will be actively involved in discussion about the topic of study. The topics of study will be determined by a group majority vote, or by the group leaders if no topics or previous knowledge of the Bible are known to new members. Doctrinal conflicts and associated topics of interest are aimed to be answered by the guiding question: "What does the Bible say?"

The following is a list of differences between this group concept compared to other faith based groups:

1. Presents facts, tangible artifacts, and other evidence proving the bible's originality.
2. Explores common myths about the Bible.
3. Involves the Analysis of different Christian denominations, particularly Bible doctrine associated
with various religious groups.
4. Inspired and motivated by oneness Pentecostal doctrine.
5. Topics of discussion will be decided by the members themselves.
6. Draws attention from not only people of faith or those interested in faith, but is inclusive to those interested in literature and history.

Group Bonding:
We want to get to know the community, find common interests, and bond in this club. Every month, a special activity will be held for bonding and group relations purposes. The option for the special activity each month will be decided from the interests of the group members. These activities can be indoor or outdoor, involve games, volunteering, food, or attending other sponsored events. In addition, group activities will be implemented weekly and centered around the topic of discussion.

Again, this club is for people on campus who want to know more about the Bible, Bible doctrine, Bible history, and everything in between. Those not involved in or interested in religion/faith are encouraged to attend.

Sustainable Innovations is a club focused on a variety of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering aspects. The purpose of this club is to provide a place for students to collaborate, learn, work together, and most importantly have fun! We welcome all people of all backgrounds and degrees.

Our goal is to share technical knowledge and teach practical engineering skills as we work on projects throughout the year. We strive to be a valuable resource for those looking to apply their knowledge. We utilize our advisor Dr. Craig Hill as resources.
