Subject: Book Club Update
Good afternoon everyone,
It was great to see some of you at our meeting yesterday! Thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to an awesome discussion.
Looking forward, our next meeting will be on Thursday, October 8, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. As always, we will be meeting in KAML 116, down the hall past the University Honors classroom. We decided to read the second half (chapters 6-10) of We Have Always Lived in the Castle.
After that, we'll move on to reading The Bog Wife by Kay Chronister. The UMD librarians are currently looking into purchasing a handful of copies of the book, as part of their expanding book club collection, which would then be available for checkout. Copies are also available at the Duluth Public Library, and we recommend ThriftBooks for buying affordable books online. We can also purchase a few copies for book club members, so please let us know by email (ocon0701@d.umn.edu and/or gerdt035@d.umn.edu) if you're interested.
Also, we are rolling out a new "pen pal" program in collaboration with the book club at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. We'll match interested members of each club, and you can write letters back and forth according to your own schedules. If you're interested, please fill out this Google form.
