Hello everyone,

Welcome to the new semester! Hopefully the first day of classes is going well for everyone. If not, here is some good news to cheer you up: our first book club meeting of the semester will be on Thursday, September 10, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Just like last year, we will meet in KAML 116, which is just down the hall from the University Honors lounge in the library.

If you participated in our summer read, The Wedding People by Alison Espach, we will be discussing that at our first meeting. We will also talk about our plans for the semester, so come prepared with suggestions for activities, opinions on our reading schedule, and any other ideas!

As a reminder, our book picks for Fall 2026 are We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson and The Bog Wife by Kay Chronister. We recommend searching for copies at the UMD library or the Duluth Public Library. The UMD library has a free, full-text ebook of We Have Always Lived in the Castle, available here. Both libraries also provide Libby access if you prefer audiobooks or ebooks. If you'd rather buy your books, check out ThriftBooks or Half-Price Books for affordable options. We can also buy copies for some book club members, so reach out if you're interested!
