The Advocates for Reproductive Freedom at UMD (previously the Student Advocates for Choice) work to protect everyone's reproductive freedom through advocacy, educating our peers, volunteer work, and political action. Our group fights for equal access to abortion services, contraception, and pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care; scientifically-accurate medical information regarding reproductive health care; support for LGBTQ+ students, students of color, and students with disabilities; and the connection between campus and community advocacy. We are affiliated with Pro-Choice Minnesota.

Alpha Delta was founded on August 4, 2007, but by the end of the first stages, the fraternity would have 22 founders from three different all-male chapters of Alpha Phi Omega (University of Maine, Drexel University, Duquesne University). The fraternity also holds to the values prescribed by Alpha Phi Omega founder and first national president Frank Reed Horton upon the creation of Alpha Phi Omega and therefore claims him as spiritual founder. The second national president H. Roe Bartle is also claimed as a spiritual founder. Alpha Delta was founded to uphold a standard of manhood set by the founders that would withstand the test of time. They ensure that although Alpha Delta is not a service fraternity for logistical reasons, the sole purpose of Alpha Delta is to provide service to mankind in four areas: to the brotherhood, to the university, to the community, and to the nation.

Starting at the Alpha Phi Omega National Convention in 2006, on December 29, numerous all-male chapters of the fraternity gathered together, feeling alienated and isolated, to discuss the option of creating a new direction that would protect the truest intentions of founder Frank Reed Horton by continuing to spread his principles and standard of manhood. This new direction culminated in the formation of a new national fraternity due to an ideological split between the all-male chapters and the national fraternity. The new fraternity would continue to hold community service at the highest of its ideals, but also preserve their respective chapters rich all-male heritage.

The Nu Mu Chapter of Alpha Delta (formerly of Alpha Phi Omega) was started in 1961. Since then the chapter has had a strong program of service along with many various social events. The Nu Mu Alumni base is large and full of great men and leaders in their communities.

Alpha Nu Omega is a local social fraternity founded in 1959. Our basic founding principles are social betterment, academic achievement, community relations, friendship and brotherhood. To further our academic goals, Alpha Nu Omega is the only fraternity on campus to offer $10,000 in scholarships to members based on the principles of academic excellence, need, and community activity. We also have a blazer program that is sponsored by the Alpha Nu Omega Alumni Association which provides a custom-made blazer to each member. Due to our beliefs that the Greek life experience should be available for everyone, the first semester associating with Alpha Nu Omega is free of any dues.

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) is a Civil Engineering organization for students who are looking to increase their knowledge of steel construction through hands on learning. This organization is open to students of all academic levels and majors. We focus on designing and fabricating a 20 foot long bridge made out of steel for the Student Steel Bridge Competition. This competition takes place in the spring with colleges from all across the region. We will also hope to have opportunities for academic, social, and professional development, along with various opportunities for volunteering.

The Concrete Canoe Team competes in the American Society of Civil Engineers‚ (ASCE) symposium every year against other colleges across the country. The team uses the year to prepare and create the concrete mix design, create a new hull, and prepare for the presentation for the final competition. We meet every week in order to finish the canoe on time. No previous experience is needed! At the competition, the team also races the canoe to see how well it performs against the other teams. ADA is an inter-collegiate dance club with dancers from the University of Minnesota Duluth, Lake Superior College, and the College of Saint Scholastica. We accept dancers of any and all dance levels! We do dance workshops in the fall in a variety of styles (jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, etc.) and difficulty levels (beginner-advanced). In the Spring, we put on a dance recital. The Biology Club was established in the late sixties and gives students a place to interact socially and academically. We have a history of providing services to our department and connecting individuals within the SCSE Biology community.

Our officers coordinate with faculty and members to assign initiatives for each semester. Members collaboratively act on these initiatives by helping organize social or service events that engage the department faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, by helping out with UMD Biology Club, students gain access to resources for networking and career guidance, as well as information regarding science courses and faculty. Our mission is to build a community where students garner the confidence to express themselves with ballroom dance. Bulldog Ballroom strives to provide opportunities for students to learn and develop their skills.

We teach ballroom dancing at a beginner level with no experience or partners required. The club learns seven main dances: Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, and Club Swing. We are engineers competing in the Formula SAE Collegiate Design Series to design, fabricate, test, and compete with a small formula style vehicle.

All majors and levels of knowledge are welcome to join. Students will learn to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world design problems and learn new skills along the way that may give them a boost in their classes. There are also multiple opportunities for networking with some of the top engineers from the automotive industry.

Bulldog Rocketry is a student organization at the University of Minnesota Duluth focused on the design, simulation, manufacturing, testing, and competition of high power rockets. Over the past few years, the team has grown from 5 to over 50 members due to the outstanding opportunities offered to the students.

Our organization is constantly striving to expand the expertise of the team and be as inclusive as possible. During the summer of 2018, the team placed second in the Space Port America Cup held by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association, an international high powered rocketry competition. The team traveled to the competition in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The following summer, in 2019, the team took second place with the rocket reaching a height of over 30,000 feet. In order to advance our team, we have done extensive research into materials and equipment to ensure future successes. The advanced equipment we are looking forward to designing and manufacturing will include voice feedback, low power tracking systems, thermal imagining systems for finding missing persons, and advanced carbon fiber manufacturing methods. All components of the rocket have been designed and developed by the student teams.

Another endeavor our team has taken on includes further development of our Hybrid rocket, capable of reaching altitudes up to 40,000 feet. The Hybrid rocket will use advanced materials and manufacturing methods, which will provide our students with excellent real-world experience in cutting edge fields of engineering. Other developments is providing business students opportunities in expanding the business side of Bulldog Rocketry. We are also expanding our computer science capabilities with website building and data management.

We are a community of tennis plays ranging in skill from beginner to advanced. Our main purpose is to give students a safe and fun environment to play tennis recreationally and competitively. We are a registered USTA Tennis on Campus organization. Chi Alpha Campus Ministries is a Christian ministry group at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) led by a staff of full-time campus pastors. The Chinese Language Learners’ Club (CLLC) is comprised of students who have or are currently studying the Chinese language, Chinese international students, as well as students interested in the Chinese language, history, and rich culture. We wish to give students interested in exploring these areas to come together and learn in a fun and educational setting.

Our mission is to promote the understanding of the Chinese language and culture, and to expand the current Chinese program in Duluth! This will be accomplished through community service events and cultural activities.

The Mission of the Graduate Student Association (GSA) is to promote and advocate for the interests of UMD graduate students. This organization serves as the primary communication channel from all graduate programs to the three elected Graduate Programs Committee student representatives; as well as one placed representative to Student Association. Helping Hives will incorporate volunteer, scientific research, educational and social opportunities. These opportunities will include planting pollinator gardens, educating the public, beekeeping, harvesting honey and more. We are working to set up an apiary on campus to include classes and the community. We plan to create sustainable products from the bees like candles and chapstick. On the research side of it, we are looking to find ways to increase the well-being of the bees. The opportunities are endless and students are able to work on whatever they are passionate about! The acronym of Hmong Living in Unity and Balance, HLUB, is the direct translation of the Hmong word, love. Hey friends! We are Lutheran Campus Ministry (LCM for short), a religious organization here at UMD. As our name suggests, our worship services are centered around the Lutheran denomination, but all our welcome to join our worship services, our weekly Koinonia sessions, and the events we host throughout the year. We hold worship services every week on Tuesday nights, and Koinonia on Thursday nights. Now, for those not fluent in Greek (which, let us be honest, you probably aren't), Koinonia is Greek for fellowship. Fellowship is something we aspire to provide through our worship services and our chats afterwards and through our Koinonia sessions, where we get together and get to know one another and discuss religion in a respectful and thoughtful manner. Alpha & RCIA: For those that are interested in learning more about our faith or becoming Catholic, Alpha is offered every Tuesday night at 7:00pm during the fall and RCIA is also Tuesday nights at 7:00pm in the winter and spring!

Retreats: What better way to know who we are and who we are meant to be than by knowing Him who made us! We provide multiple retreat opportunities to students every year. Retreats provide an opportunity for students to go away for a weekend and spend time in prayer and fellowship with other young Catholics. All of our retreats provide a clear proclamation of the Gospel, an opportunity to go to confession, daily Mass, a time of adoration and praise and worship.

The Fly Fishing Club of UMD is a group of students that have a common interest in fly fishing. Whether members are experienced, novice, or have never touched a fly rod before, there is a place for you in our club! The North Shore and the South Shore of Lake Superior are world renowned for their migratory steelhead and salmon runs. Additionally, there are many other fisheries including the Cloquet River, Saint Louis River, and many area lakes that also offer tremendous fishing opportunities. The goal of our club is to bring people together, build a community, and have a common place to share stories and make memories. However, we also emphasize conservation and making a positive impact around Lake Superior and it's tributaries to ensure a sustainable resource for years to come!

The UMD chapter, Beta Zeta, was created to connect high-achieving chemical engineering students with each other as well as the resources of the national society. Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) is an organization for leaders. Our newly formed group is part of a national affiliation of over 300 campus Circles, representing approximately 6,000 new inductees every year.
ODK consists of sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are in the top 33% of their class academically (typically a 3.4 GPA). Those who are eligible will be invited to apply in the spring of the year that they are eligible. All majors are accepted!
Leadership is defined by five different areas of campus: Academics, Athletics, Service, Communication, and Arts.
If accepted into the society, members must pay a one-time due of $94 (as ODK is a lifetime membership).

The Panhellenic Council (PHC) is comprised of four UMD sororities. The Panhellenic Council exists to develop and maintain sorority life and interfraternal relations. The organization promotes scholarship and leadership development while disseminates information important to sorority women to the chapters.

PHC is the coordinating body for Primary Sorority Recruitment Week. PHC is led by 8 student leaders who make up the Executive Board. Each executive position is a member of a sorority at UMD and represents the interests of the community at large. They are elected at the end of the fall semester and serve a one-year term. Additionally, each chapter has a designated woman, known as the Panhellenic Delegate, that attends meetings.

Phi Sigma Sigma is an international social sorority founded in 1913 at Hunter College.
Our founders wanted to perpetuate the advancement of womanhood by setting three core values that all chapters share: lifelong learning, leadership through service, and inclusiveness. They approached the Dean of Women at Hunter College in New York City with an idea of creating a sorority that would promote open membership to all women of character that were committed to sisterhood, excellence in scholarship, and selfless giving. Phi Sigma Sigma was the first nonsectarian sorority - not based upon one specific religion and to be open to a diverse membership. Today Phi Sigma Sigma proudly holds over 100 chapters in both the United States and Canada.
Iota Zeta is the name of our Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma. Once upon a time, there was a local sorority on campus, Zeta Omega Rho. Incidentally, a sister of the Zeta Nu chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma transferred to the University of Minnesota Duluth. She longed for her days as a Phi Sigma Sigma, and in 2001 decided to make a good faith effort in recreating her sorority experience by forming a new local sorority, Delta Omega Lambda. These two sororities were mutually interested in becoming attached to a larger, national governing body. In order to gain national sorority attention, the two local organizations united their efforts. In unity they became a colony of Phi Sigma Sigma, initiated January 31, 2004, to establish the Iota Zeta chapter.

Our goal is to create sustainable relationships with our environment and the world around us, starting with our local food system here in the Great Lakes region. We pursue projects at the UMD Land Lab farm that allow us to increase food security, sovereignty, and local organic produce in our area. We currently have several projects in progress including: mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, composting, edible forest gardening, biochar research, and much more! We also want to spread awareness about the UMD Land Lab and encourage other students and community members to visit the farm to learn more about sustainable farming techniques. Building relationships and engaging with the community is a very important aspect of our overall purpose.

We are a club committed to providing undergraduate students interested in the field of genetics and the career of genetic counseling with opportunities to learn more about the field. In addition to meeting people with similar interests, we will offer a variety of events and information including Q and A's with genetic counselors, information on admission requirements for graduate programs in genetic counseling, volunteer/advocacy opportunities, and interview tips and tricks. The Pre-Law Club at UMD is a pre-professional group that helps guide and provide resources for students that are interested in going to law school after graduation. This club is open to all UMD students, even those that are unsure if law is the path they want to follow. The Rho Chi Honor Society is a National Honor Society for Pharmacy that encourages and recognizes excellence in intellectual achievement in all facets of pharmacy. To be eligible for admission into Rho Chi, PharmD students must first complete no less than 3 semesters of coursework and must rank in the top 20% of their class based on GPA. Graduate students pursuing a masters or PhD in the pharmaceutical sciences with a 3.5 GPA after one-half of their coursework are also eligible. Members of Rho Chi are students who have displayed academic excellence, a capacity for achievement in the sciences and the art of pharmacy and the allied science, while demonstrating strength of character.

We are an organization of students that all share a passion for the outdoors. We are one big group of friends that enjoy getting together and doing things outdoors such as trap shooting, hunting, ice fishing and cookouts. We host two trap shoots and two cookouts per semester and we go on an club ice fishing trip every winter in January. The ice fishing trip gives members a chance to make new friends and go on a fishing trip somewhere in Minnesota they might not have never been before. Season permitting we also try to do a smelting night on lake superior in the spring. Besides enjoying extra curricular activity in the outdoors together as often as possible, we also have a goal of making a difference in our community. We get together at least twice per semester to walk around local parks and pick up as much trash as we can find. We also find plenty of opportunities to volunteer for and support local charities such as the Courage for Kenny trap shoot that we volunteer at every fall. We also help out at the Island lake fishing tournament ran by the United Northern Sportsman's Club. All activities are optional and anyone is welcome to join our club for any reason at any time. We are all very welcoming and we hope to find more people that will become apart of what we do so people can continue to enjoy being in this club for years to come! If you are interested in meeting some of us, or if you are just curious about the things we do together, please do not hesitate to reach out!

It is ok whether you are new to running, or you have been training and racing for years. We generally run from campus and as of fall 2023 we will meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5:00pm. Competitive shotgun sports group that includes primarily trap right now. We shoot weekly and compete in tournaments in the Midwest as well as virtual leagues. We shoot at  Old Vermillion Trail Hunt and Gun Club. We are also planning to host a tournament at least once a year!The Shooting Sports Team is a club that is devoted to growing shotgun shooting sports in the UMD community as well as competing at the collegiate level in various shooting sports. The team works to provide an outlet for high school students to continue shooting during their college careers at UMD. The Shooting Sports Team competes in shooting events all across the Midwest against other collegiate teams.

We are the Society of Physics Students (Physics Club). The SPS Hosts Colloquiums with professors in the field of Physics and Astronomy on a level that everyone can enjoy and learn! We discuss physics and engage in fun activities including but not limited to movie nights, game nights, trivia/jeopardy events, fun projects such as building atmospheric weather balloons and playing around and learning to use various instrumentation (such as Raspberry Pi). The Accounting Club provides an overview of the accounting profession by meeting with business professionals and other students. The club invites speakers and organizes information sessions for students to network with accounting professionals prior to on-campus interviews. Many students receive internship or job offers from these events. A representative from Becker CPA review visits campus to discuss their review programs and all of the required steps to becoming a CPA.  Food and drinks are provided at every in person meeting! The Concrete Canoe Team competes in the American Society of Civil Engineers‚ (ASCE) symposium every year against other colleges across the country. The team uses the year to prepare and create the concrete mix design, create a new hull, and prepare for the presentation for the final competition. We meet every week in order to finish the canoe on time. No previous experience is needed! At the competition, the team also races the canoe to see how well it performs against the other teams. The Athletic Bands at the University of Minnesota Duluth provides support and entertainment for the university athletics programs and the community. We have people from all different backgrounds who join athletic bands every year - come make music with us!The marching band will meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:00-6:25pm, and the pep band will meet Wednesday from 7:00-9:00pm. Hello All! If you're looking for a high energy sport to smash some birdies around and get active you've come to the right place! The UMD Badminton club has been growing in order to offer rackets, birdies, and court space to recreational players, and we welcome those who are looking to improve their skills. Casual membership is 40$ and allows you to use club rackets, birdies, and courts. Competitive membership is 80$ and covers the 3 yearly tournaments as well as their room/travel. We host an open tournament in the spring and are looking to improve it each year. We look forward to your participation in badminton this year, UMD Badminton Club.

The Clean Snowmobile Team works to redesign many features of a stock snowmobile to make it cleaner, quieter, and more efficient while still being fun to ride. In March every year, we compete in the SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge in Houghton, Michigan against about 19 other colleges who have all made innovative changes that will improve the world of snowmobiling. Employers in many industries seek the ideas and talent that rise from CSC teams around the Midwest, so being part of the team is a great benefit to any student involved. We have projects big and small that need help from students of all majors: Engineering, business, art, accounting, underwater basket-weaving, etc. If you are interested in learning more about what we do, come to one of our weekly meetings! They are every Monday at 5:15pm in Engineering 290.

If you like to golf in tournaments or just play some casual round then this is the perfect club. You are not required to compete in tournaments if you join. We are looking to bring together all of the students that enjoy golf and make some new friends on the course. We are a part of the NCCGA which is the National Collegiate Club Golf Association so there are a couple tournaments each semester that we try to get a team to go to. There are occurrences when we plan to get a group together to go golf at Enger or go to an indoor simulator. We are all about making connections and having a good time.
