The Actuary Club was created to promote the actuary career. We aim to educate, prepare and aid students in exam preparation and aim to help students to become strong actuarial candidates by offering tools and support. We host talks and seminars at UMD by working actuaries who discuss their careers, many of which whom are UMD alumni. Our club attends local career fairs as well as the University of Minnesota Actuarial Career Fair in the Twin Cities each year to learn and network about actuarial career opportunities.

The Addiction Medicine Interest Group (AddMIG) is dedicated to increasing education and advocacy focused on addiction medicine and drug use through a harm reduction lens. In collaboration with local addiction medicine physicians and organizations, it aims to create resources that better meet the needs of communities affected by addiction. It also strives to provide students with the intersectional perspective necessary to compassionately care for folks living with addiction. Additionally, it aims to provide students with resources to potential career paths into addiction medicine, and emphasizes the importance of adequate addiction training across all medical specialties.

The Advocates for Reproductive Freedom at UMD (previously the Student Advocates for Choice) work to protect everyone's reproductive freedom through advocacy, educating our peers, volunteer work, and political action. Our group fights for equal access to abortion services, contraception, and pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care; scientifically-accurate medical information regarding reproductive health care; support for LGBTQ+ students, students of color, and students with disabilities; and the connection between campus and community advocacy. Alpha Delta was founded on August 4, 2007, but by the end of the first stages, the fraternity would have 22 founders from three different all-male chapters of Alpha Phi Omega (University of Maine, Drexel University, Duquesne University). The fraternity also holds to the values prescribed by Alpha Phi Omega founder and first national president Frank Reed Horton upon the creation of Alpha Phi Omega and therefore claims him as spiritual founder. The second national president H. Roe Bartle is also claimed as a spiritual founder. Alpha Delta was founded to uphold a standard of manhood set by the founders that would withstand the test of time. They ensure that although Alpha Delta is not a service fraternity for logistical reasons, the sole purpose of Alpha Delta is to provide service to mankind in four areas: to the brotherhood, to the university, to the community, and to the nation.

Starting at the Alpha Phi Omega National Convention in 2006, on December 29, numerous all-male chapters of the fraternity gathered together, feeling alienated and isolated, to discuss the option of creating a new direction that would protect the truest intentions of founder Frank Reed Horton by continuing to spread his principles and standard of manhood. This new direction culminated in the formation of a new national fraternity due to an ideological split between the all-male chapters and the national fraternity. The new fraternity would continue to hold community service at the highest of its ideals, but also preserve their respective chapters rich all-male heritage.

The Nu Mu Chapter of Alpha Delta (formerly of Alpha Phi Omega) was started in 1961. Since then the chapter has had a strong program of service along with many various social events. The Nu Mu Alumni base is large and full of great men and leaders in their communities.

Alpha Nu Omega is a local social fraternity founded in 1959. Our basic founding principles are social betterment, academic achievement, community relations, friendship and brotherhood. To further our academic goals, Alpha Nu Omega is the only fraternity on campus to offer $10,000 in scholarships to members based on the principles of academic excellence, need, and community activity. We also have a blazer program that is sponsored by the Alpha Nu Omega Alumni Association which provides a custom-made blazer to each member. Due to our beliefs that the Greek life experience should be available for everyone, the first semester associating with Alpha Nu Omega is free of any dues.

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) is a Civil Engineering organization for students who are looking to increase their knowledge of steel construction through hands on learning. This organization is open to students of all academic levels and majors. We focus on designing and fabricating a 20 foot long bridge made out of steel for the Student Steel Bridge Competition. This competition takes place in the spring with colleges from all across the region. The Concrete Canoe Team competes in the American Society of Civil Engineers‚ (ASCE) symposium every year against other colleges across the country. The team uses the year to prepare and create the concrete mix design, create a new hull, and prepare for the presentation for the final competition. We meet every week in order to finish the canoe on time. No previous experience is needed! At the competition, the team also races the canoe to see how well it performs against the other teams. The Biology Club was established in the late sixties and gives students a place to interact socially and academically. We have a history of providing services to our department and connecting individuals within the SCSE Biology community.

Our officers coordinate with faculty and members to assign initiatives for each semester. We teach ballroom dancing at a beginner level with no experience or partners required. The club learns six main dances: Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Rumba, and East Coast Swing. We are engineers competing in the Formula SAE Collegiate Design Series to design, fabricate, test, and compete with a small formula style vehicle.

All majors and levels of knowledge are welcome to join. Bulldog Rocketry is a student organization at the University of Minnesota Duluth focused on the design, simulation, manufacturing, testing, and competition of high power rockets. Over the past few years, the team has grown from 5 to over 50 members due to the outstanding opportunities offered to the students.

Our organization is constantly striving to expand the expertise of the team and be as inclusive as possible. During the summer of 2018, the team placed second in the Space Port America Cup held by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association, an international high powered rocketry competition. The team traveled to the competition in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The following summer, in 2019, the team took second place with the rocket reaching a height of over 30,000 feet. In order to advance our team, we have done extensive research into materials and equipment to ensure future successes. The advanced equipment we are looking forward to designing and manufacturing will include voice feedback, low power tracking systems, thermal imagining systems for finding missing persons, and advanced carbon fiber manufacturing methods. All components of the rocket have been designed and developed by the student teams.

Another endeavor our team has taken on includes further development of our Hybrid rocket, capable of reaching altitudes up to 40,000 feet. The Hybrid rocket will use advanced materials and manufacturing methods, which will provide our students with excellent real-world experience in cutting edge fields of engineering. Other developments is providing business students opportunities in expanding the business side of Bulldog Rocketry. We are also expanding our computer science capabilities with website building and data management.

We are a community of tennis plays ranging in skill from beginner to advanced. Our main purpose is to give students a safe and fun environment to play tennis recreationally and competitively. We are a registered USTA Tennis on Campus organization. Chinese Language Learners Club, is composed of global citizens who are currently studying the Chinese language or have the desire to. We aim to rebuild trust and re-engage individuals within the community, providing compassionate healthcare that acknowledges and seeks to rectify the historical harms and judgments faced by unhoused individuals, those who use(d) substances, and those with other stigmatized health conditions. By actively listening to and collaborating with community partners, we strive to address identified needs and enhance existing support systems.
Our program focuses on creating pathways to health for those experiencing housing instability, prioritizing the voices of the community we serve. Through experiential learning opportunities, students will engage in direct service, volunteering alongside local efforts in street medicine.
We are dedicated to fostering an interprofessional community that enriches the educational experience of medical and health professional learners. Our curriculum will integrate didactic sessions led by experts and individuals with lived experience, equipping students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to care for under-resourced populations.

The UMD Traditional Crafts & Heritage Club is dedicated to exploring the living history of craft along Lake Superior. We partner with local artisans, boatbuilders, makerspaces, and community art centers to provide students with hands-on experiences in woodworking, carving, toolmaking, folk arts, and other traditional trades. Through workshops, site visits, lectures, and collaborative projects, we seek to honor the skills and stories that shaped our region while creating a welcoming space for new makers. Helping Hives will incorporate volunteer, scientific research, educational and social opportunities. These opportunities will include planting pollinator gardens, educating the public, beekeeping, harvesting honey and more. We are working to set up an apiary on campus to include classes and the community. We plan to create sustainable products from the bees like candles and chapstick. On the research side of it, we are looking to find ways to increase the well-being of the bees. The opportunities are endless and students are able to work on whatever they are passionate about! Hillel is a Jewish organization that works to bring together Jewish students across campus, as well as engaging with all students regardless of affiliation. Hey friends! We are Lutheran Campus Ministry-ELCA (LCM for short), a religious organization here at UMD. As our name suggests, our worship services are centered around the Lutheran denomination, but all our welcome to join our worship services, our weekly Koinonia sessions, and the events we host throughout the year. We hold worship services every week on Tuesday nights, and Koinonia on Thursday nights. Now, for those not fluent in Greek (which, let us be honest, you probably aren't), Koinonia is Greek for fellowship. Fellowship is something we aspire to provide through our worship services and our chats afterwards and through our Koinonia sessions, where we get together and get to know one another and discuss religion in a respectful and thoughtful manner. Reconciliation: The Sacrament of confession is available 30 minutes prior to the start of every daily Mass and 45 minutes prior to every Sunday Mass.

Bible Studies are offered almost daily and are led by our FOCUS Missionaries and student leaders.

Alpha & RCIA: For those that are interested in learning more about our faith or becoming Catholic, Alpha is offered every Tuesday night at 7:00pm during the fall and RCIA is also Tuesday nights at 7:00pm in the winter and spring!

Retreats: What better way to know who we are and who we are meant to be than by knowing Him who made us! We provide multiple retreat opportunities to students every year. Retreats provide an opportunity for students to go away for a weekend and spend time in prayer and fellowship with other young Catholics. All of our retreats provide a clear proclamation of the Gospel, an opportunity to go to confession, daily Mass, a time of adoration and praise and worship

The Fly Fishing Club of UMD is a group of students that have a common interest in fly fishing. Whether members are experienced, novice, or have never touched a fly rod before, there is a place for you in our club! The North Shore and the South Shore of Lake Superior are world renowned for their migratory steelhead and salmon runs. Additionally, there are many other fisheries including the Cloquet River, Saint Louis River, and many area lakes that also offer tremendous fishing opportunities. The goal of our club is to bring people together, build a community, and have a common place to share stories and make memories. However, we also emphasize conservation and making a positive impact around Lake Superior and it's tributaries to ensure a sustainable resource for years to come!
