The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) is a Civil Engineering organization for students who are looking to increase their knowledge of steel construction through hands on learning. This organization is open to students of all academic levels and majors. We focus on designing and fabricating a 20 foot long bridge made out of steel for the Student Steel Bridge Competition. This competition takes place in the spring with colleges from all across the region. We will also hope to have opportunities for academic, social, and professional development, along with various opportunities for volunteering.

The American Society of Civil Engineers UMD Student Chapter is a professional group of students who meet with working professionals within the Civil Engineering field to further develop our applicable knowledge and to network with local businesses. We strive to have our members walk away from our meetings feeling that they know more about their chosen major, make new friends, and nerd out about concrete, water, dirt, construction, and anything else involving civil engineering.

The mission of the Asian Pacific American Association is to provide an environment for social and educational interaction where students can get involved, interact, and foster leadership development among the various groups of Asian Americans and the greater Duluth community. To allow students to engage in a conversation, to learn, to teach, and preserve the Asian-American culture and heritage. Finally, APAA also gives interested individuals both on campus and in the community to learn more about Asian-American culture.

The Biology Club was established in the late sixties and gives students a place to interact socially and academically. We have a history of providing services to our department and connecting individuals within the SCSE Biology community.

Our officers coordinate with faculty and members to assign initiatives for each semester. Members collaboratively act on these initiatives by helping organize social or service events that engage the department faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, by helping out with UMD Biology Club, students gain access to resources for networking and career guidance, as well as information regarding science courses and faculty. Biology Club provides a fun, social atmosphere for students to engage with their peers and with the scientific community of Duluth, while contributing their services on campus.

We are engineers competing in the Formula SAE Collegiate Design Series to design, fabricate, test, and compete with a small formula style vehicle.

All majors and levels of knowledge are welcome to join. Students will learn to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world design problems and learn new skills along the way that may give them a boost in their classes. There are also multiple opportunities for networking with some of the top engineers from the automotive industry.

Bulldog Rocketry is a student organization at the University of Minnesota Duluth focused on the design, simulation, manufacturing, testing, and competition of high power rockets. Over the past few years, the team has grown from 5 to over 50 members due to the outstanding opportunities offered to the students.

Our organization is constantly striving to expand the expertise of the team and be as inclusive as possible. During the summer of 2018, the team placed second in the Space Port America Cup held by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association, an international high powered rocketry competition. The team traveled to the competition in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The following summer, in 2019, the team took second place with the rocket reaching a height of over 30,000 feet. In order to advance our team, we have done extensive research into materials and equipment to ensure future successes. The advanced equipment we are looking forward to designing and manufacturing will include voice feedback, low power tracking systems, thermal imagining systems for finding missing persons, and advanced carbon fiber manufacturing methods. All components of the rocket have been designed and developed by the student teams.

Another endeavor our team has taken on includes further development of our Hybrid rocket, capable of reaching altitudes up to 40,000 feet. The Hybrid rocket will use advanced materials and manufacturing methods, which will provide our students with excellent real-world experience in cutting edge fields of engineering. Other developments is providing business students opportunities in expanding the business side of Bulldog Rocketry. We are also expanding our computer science capabilities with website building and data management.

The Criminology and Sociology Club is a group on campus to help students that are majoring in, minoring in, or just generally interested in Criminology and/or Sociology make connections within this sphere of interest and have discussions on related topics.

Although some topics and discussions might take an academic vent, it is not meant to be another class or lecture for people to sit through. This club is meant to help students get immersed in the realm of Criminology and Sociology. Through the Duluth Street Medicine and Community Outreach, we are committed to transforming healthcare for marginalized and vulnerable populations through the practice of street medicine. Our mission is to increase awareness and understanding of street medicine among health professional students, fostering encounters where effective care extends beyond usual clinical settings and into the community.
We aim to rebuild trust and re-engage individuals within the community, providing compassionate healthcare that acknowledges and seeks to rectify the historical harms and judgments faced by unhoused individuals, those who use(d) substances, and those with other stigmatized health conditions. By actively listening to and collaborating with community partners, we strive to address identified needs and enhance existing support systems.
Our program focuses on creating pathways to health for those experiencing housing instability, prioritizing the voices of the community we serve. Through experiential learning opportunities, students will engage in direct service, volunteering alongside local efforts in street medicine.
We are dedicated to fostering an interprofessional community that enriches the educational experience of medical and health professional learners. Our curriculum will integrate didactic sessions led by experts and individuals with lived experience, equipping students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to care for under-resourced populations.
Ultimately, we seek to embed the principles of street medicine into the health professions curriculum, ensuring that future healthcare providers are prepared to deliver equitable and compassionate care to all individuals in proximity of their context and aware of their circumstances.

Engineers Without Borders is a global organization that designs engineering projects for communities in need. All designs are created and built by students. Currently, we are working on designing a water purification and distribution system for a community in rural Kenya.

Benefits include the opportunity for international travel, the chance to work on real engineering projects as an undergrad, and networking with professional engineers (PEs) from all disciplines.

The Mission of the Graduate Student Association (GSA) is to promote and advocate for the interests of UMD graduate students. The acronym of Hmong Living in Unity and Balance, HLUB, is the direct translation of the Hmong word, love. The name of our student organization is unique because it also represents how strong we can be as a student group by promoting unity and balance for Hmong Americans while promoting, preserving, and advancing the Hmong culture and heritage. The Health of People Everywhere (HOPE) Clinic is a student-run, faculty-supervised educational clinic with the purpose to provide free medical access to the underserved populations of Duluth, especially those of who reside at the CHUM Center. The UMD Men's Rugby Club is a group of hard working and competitive rugby players that strive for excellence every year.

We accept players that range from newcomers to the sport to veterans who have played before in High School.

Practices are usually Tuesday - Thursday from 5pm - 7pm during the fall. During the spring, the practice times are dependent on the total people willing to play as well as available practice times.

Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) is an organization for leaders. Our group is part of a national affiliation of over 300 campus Circles, representing approximately 6,000 new inductees every year.
ODK consists of sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are in the top 33% of their class academically (typically a 3.4 GPA). Those who are eligible will be invited to apply in the spring of the year that they are eligible. All majors are accepted!
Leadership is defined by five different areas of campus: Academics, Athletics, Service, Communication, and Arts.
If accepted into the society, members must pay a national due of $94.

Our goal is to create sustainable relationships with our environment and the world around us, starting with our local food system here in the Great Lakes region. We pursue projects at the UMD Land Lab farm that allow us to increase food security, sovereignty, and local organic produce in our area. We currently have several projects in progress including: mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, composting, edible forest gardening, biochar research, and much more! We also want to spread awareness about the UMD Land Lab and encourage other students and community members to visit the farm to learn more about sustainable farming techniques. Building relationships and engaging with the community is a very important aspect of our overall purpose.

The Bark is the University of Minnesota Duluth student news organization. UMD students create, select and approve all content, publishing online daily to an audience of over 10,000 students, staff, faculty and the greater community on topics ranging from hard news, sports and outdoors, to culture, entertainment, creative writing and more. Once a month The Bark also publishes a free print magazine that can be found on racks around the UMD campus.Come join The Bark; all students are welcome to contribute content but we want you to become a part of the team; volunteering can lead to paid positions, leadership roles or an internship in journalism, marketing, sales, graphic design, photography, multimedia etc. You can start small, find your niche and build up to reporting or editor! We will train you!There are two sides to a media outlet, editorial and business. Editorial: Journalism, writing, campus news, sports reporting, editing, social media, graphic design, photography, video. Business: Advertising sales, marketing, social media, media analytics, web management, promotions, business administration. Weekly editorial meetings are led by the Editor in Chief.
