About Us
The Bark is the University of Minnesota Duluth student news organization. UMD students create, select and approve all content, publishing online daily to an audience of over 10,000 students, staff, faculty and the greater community on topics ranging from hard news, sports and outdoors, to culture, entertainment, creative writing and more. Once a month The Bark also publishes a free print magazine that can be found on racks around the UMD campus.Come join The Bark; all students are welcome to contribute content but we want you to become a part of the team; volunteering can lead to paid positions, leadership roles or an internship in journalism, marketing, sales, graphic design, photography, multimedia etc. You can start small, find your niche and build up to reporting or editor! We will train you!There are two sides to a media outlet, editorial and business. Editorial: Journalism, writing, campus news, sports reporting, editing, social media, graphic design, photography, video. Business: Advertising sales, marketing, social media, media analytics, web management, promotions, business administration.
